Our Mission

We're fighting for a future where artificial intelligence is equitable toward girls and women.

Girls for Algorithmic Justice is the world's first and largest youth organization for gender equity in artificial intelligence. We're leveraging our global network of 400+ volunteers to address AI harms towards girls and women. Specific issues we're addressing include the epidemic of nonconsensual explicit deepfakes, ninety-nine percent of which target women and girls, currently flooding social media; gender bias baked into countless AI models and facial recognition technologies; and a lack of gender representation in the AI industry itself.

Through grassroots organizing, education, and advocacy, we're calling on governments and companies to take this issue seriously, and amplifying the voices of thousands of young people worldwide. Our work has been recognized by Prudential Emerging Visionaries, the Ashoka Foundation, Yahoo Finance, Nasdaq, and the NBC Today Show.

What We Do

Organizing

We are committed to amplifying youth voices in the policymaking process. We have conducted nonpartisan lobbying with stakeholders at the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives, White House, and more.

Advocacy

We work within civil society to raise awareness about AI harms and discriminatory tendencies. We leverage social media, speaking engagements, and conferences to share the stories of those directly impacted by AI harms.

Introducing
#StopExplicitDeepfakes

We are launching our #StopExplicitDeepfakes campaign to pressure social media companies to proactively take down abusive deepfake content, and urge governments to enact more comprehensive laws preventing the creation of nonconsensual deepfakes. We also aim to amplify the stories of girls and women who have been targeted and ensure that they have a seat at the table as deepfake regulations are created.
